High stocking densities in RAS need careful management as the controlled environment does not eliminate density-related stress. Lighting management in indoor RAS affects circadian rhythms and welfare. Welfare-focused RAS management includes emergency aeration backup, appropriate density management, and natural photoperiod provision to maintain good welfare across the production cycle.
