Pet reptile welfare is a largely hidden crisis. The specific and exacting environmental requirements of different reptile species are frequently misunderstood or ignored, resulting in chronic suffering from thermal stress, metabolic disease, and psychological deprivation. Significant improvements in keeper education and retail standards are urgently needed.
