Welfare Considerations

Marsh tit welfare is strongly linked to the structural complexity of ancient woodland. High deer densities have eliminated the dense shrub layer that marsh tits depend on for foraging and nesting. Without active deer management or exclosures, formerly suitable woodland cannot support territorial pairs.
