Rabbits have evolved as grazers requiring continuous access to high-fiber hay. Without adequate hay, gut motility slows, leading to life-threatening GI stasis. Dental disease is also strongly linked to low-fiber diets, as chewing hay naturally wears teeth. Many pet rabbits suffer preventable chronic conditions because owners are not aware of these dietary requirements. Education at point of sale is critically important.
