Welfare Considerations

Winter outdoor cattle welfare depends heavily on stocking density, soil type, drainage and the availability of shelter and dry lying areas. Overstocked winter paddocks can rapidly deteriorate into welfare-compromising muddy conditions. Regular monitoring of body condition and hoof health is essential from November through March.
