Poor socialisation causes chronic fear and anxiety that reduces quality of life for the lifetime of the dog. Dogs from puppy farms are significantly more likely to show behaviour problems related to fear and anxiety than responsibly bred dogs. The welfare cost of poor socialisation is enormous and largely irreversible after the critical period closes.
