Welfare Considerations

Barn owls struck by vehicles experience traumatic injury. Those that survive initial impact often die from internal bleeding and organ damage without immediate veterinary care. Chicks in converted barns die when parents are killed or sites are destroyed. Secondary rodenticide poisoning causes neurological deterioration. Each preventable barn owl death represents individual suffering and compounds pressure on a species that is still recovering.
