Welfare Considerations

Wild cheetahs experience high stress from kleptoparasitism by lions and hyenas that steal their kills. This reduces feeding success and causes chronic nutritional stress. Cubs taken for the pet trade experience severe psychological trauma. Their specialised needs are impossible to meet in captivity, and most die within months of capture.
