Wild salmon experience physiological stress from increased water temperatures, reduced dissolved oxygen, and sea lice infestation. Fish ladder bypass structures reduce but do not eliminate migration barriers. Sea lice at high densities cause tissue damage and osmotic stress. Pollution from agriculture and sewage impairs gill function and causes mortality.
