Welfare Considerations

Cheetahs caught in livestock conflicts suffer from injuries, stress, and displacement. Cubs taken for the illegal pet trade face high mortality rates and profound psychological suffering from removal from their mothers. Cheetahs held in poor captive conditions often develop stereotypic pacing and other stress behaviours. Range-wide habitat loss forces individuals into suboptimal territories with increased competition and injury risk.

What You Can Do

Never support the illegal pet trade in cheetahs or any wild cat
Support cheetah-human coexistence programs on African farmlands
Donate to Cheetah Conservation Fund or similar organisations
Oppose keeping exotic cats as pets
Advocate for livestock protection measures that reduce retaliatory killing
