Legislation is expanding, both in scope and geographic reach. Technology is enabling welfare monitoring at scales previously impossible. Alternative proteins are beginning to offer pathways away from intensive animal farming. Against this progress must be set the growing scale of global animal agriculture and the billions of animals still experiencing avoidable suffering.
