Dogs experiencing heat stroke suffer from hyperthermia causing cellular damage, brain injury, blood clotting disorders, and multi-organ failure that can cause death within minutes to hours. Much heat stroke is entirely preventable through avoiding hot environments, never leaving dogs in cars, and exercising in cooler periods. Brachycephalic breeds have significantly reduced heat tolerance from their airway anatomy.
