Welfare Considerations

Crocodilians are kept in barren concrete enclosures that deny all natural behaviour including basking on natural substrate, swimming in natural water and social regulation of space. Slaughter via pithing (spinal cord severing) without prior effective stunning causes severe suffering. CITES regulates trade in wild crocodilians but does not address welfare in farming.
