Welfare Considerations

Foxes are highly intelligent, wide-ranging carnivores that suffer intensely in small wire cages. Overbreeding for giant body size in Finnish farm foxes has caused spinal and joint problems. Fear tests on farmed foxes consistently show high scores. The fashion industry increasingly uses synthetic alternatives, but demand persists in some markets. Fox farming is banned in the UK, Austria and several other EU countries.
