Coyotes are one of North America's most persecuted predators, killed in their millions annually through methods that cause severe welfare harm.
Leghold traps and snares cause prolonged suffering — trapped coyotes can remain in pain for hours or days before being found. Non-target species including pets, eagles and bobcats are frequently captured. The ecological rationale for broad-scale coyote lethal control is also weak — research consistently shows it does not achieve long-term livestock predation reduction. Welfare-improving coexistence strategies are more effective and humane.
