Welfare Considerations

Peregrines are the world's fastest animals and among the most charismatic raptors. Nest disturbance during the critical incubation and chick-rearing period causes egg chilling, hatching failure and chick starvation. Illegal killing by poisoning near pigeon lofts causes acute suffering before death. Urban nest sites require protection from access during the breeding season to prevent disturbance causing egg and chick loss.
