Cognitive dysfunction syndrome causes disorientation, anxiety, and disrupted sleep that significantly affects quality of life. Proactive management — regular veterinary assessment, appropriate analgesic use, adapted exercise, and cognitive enrichment — can maintain quality of life significantly longer than reactive treatment of only obvious clinical signs.
