Confined to small hutches, kept alone, fed insufficient hay, and rarely handled gently, millions of pet rabbits live in conditions that cause chronic psychological and physical suffering. The majority of pet rabbit welfare problems are preventable through simple improvements to housing, diet, and companionship. Public education has significantly improved but many rabbits still suffer unnecessarily.
