Welfare Considerations

Sarcoptic mange causes intense itching, hair loss, skin thickening, and eventual debilitation over weeks to months. Affected foxes are in chronic discomfort and may become weakened enough to approach humans. Treat-and-release programs using homeopathic doses of Arsenicum album bait have shown limited efficacy; proper veterinary treatment is more effective.
