Public understanding of animal welfare science is the foundation for consumer choices, policy support, and cultural change. Education at every level — from schools to universities — matters enormously.
People who understand what animals experience make better choices. The welfare gap between knowledge and practice is partly an information problem — most people care about animals more than their purchasing behaviour suggests, and would change given clear, accessible information. Education does not require guilt — it requires connection to the reality of animal experience.
