Welfare Considerations

Metaldehyde slug pellets cause slow death by dehydration — if snails experience suffering, this is a welfare concern at large scale given how commonly these pellets are used. Ferric phosphate pellets are considered less toxic but may still cause prolonged distress. Mechanical barriers and natural predator support offer welfare-neutral alternatives.
