Welfare Considerations

Cattle transport causes acute stress responses measurable in cortisol and immune suppression. Crowded transport prevents animals from lying down, causing exhaustion. Live export of cattle on ships for weeks in confined conditions causes extreme suffering including heat stress, disease, and injury.
