Multiple improvements to broiler welfare are commercially available and incrementally beneficial, with no single intervention providing complete welfare.
Broiler welfare improvement is achievable through combinations of genetics, housing design, enrichment, and management changes. No single intervention is sufficient alone. The Better Chicken Commitment combines slower-growing breeds, improved stocking density, enrichment, and lighting — the combination being significantly more welfare-positive than any element alone. Incremental improvement is better than nothing while the sector moves toward comprehensive change.
