Temperature fluctuations without aquarium heaters cause immune suppression. Fancy goldfish with extreme body shapes suffer from buoyancy problems and spinal compression. The giving of goldfish as prizes at fairgrounds and events creates high mortality from inadequate care by unprepared recipients.
