Animal exploitation and human oppression are often intertwined. Slaughterhouse workers — typically low-income immigrants — suffer physical and psychological harm from their working conditions. Communities of color bear disproportionate environmental burdens from intensive animal agriculture. Recognizing these connections creates opportunities for coalition-building across movements and more comprehensive approaches to justice that include both human and animal welfare.
