Welfare Considerations

Stray dogs in South Asia suffer from mange, distemper, parvovirus, and other preventable diseases. Road injuries cause traumatic deaths. Culling methods including poisoning and shooting cause slow, painful deaths. Without adequate veterinary care, injured dogs suffer for days or weeks. Despite their marginal social status, they experience fear, pain, and social distress.
