Quail farming represents a largely invisible welfare crisis. The speed of production cycles means that welfare compromises are normalised as operational efficiency. High stocking densities cause chronic stress, feather damage, and increased disease susceptibility. The absence of regulatory frameworks specifically addressing quail means that producers face few legal incentives to improve conditions. Raising awareness among consumers and policymakers about quail welfare is the first step toward meaningful reform in this neglected sector.
