Veganism removes individual participation in animal exploitation and, at scale, can reduce demand for animal products — but its welfare impact depends on context and complementary advocacy.
Veganism is an ethical personal choice that reduces individual participation in animal suffering. At scale it reduces demand and can influence markets. However, individual behaviour change alone cannot transform the food system — systemic change through policy, corporate commitments, and food technology is essential to help the billions of animals currently suffering in industrial agriculture. Veganism is most powerful when combined with active advocacy for systemic change.
