The welfare harm of turbine collision mortality — though significant in aggregate — is far smaller than the welfare harm of climate change impacts on wildlife from continued fossil fuel use. Advocates who oppose renewable energy on welfare grounds are making an error that benefits fossil fuels at the expense of the animals they aim to protect.
