Rabbit GI stasis is a welfare emergency that is largely preventable through appropriate husbandry. The single most important preventive measure — ad libitum hay provision — is simple, cheap and highly effective. Owners who recognise early signs, understand the urgency and have access to a rabbit-experienced vet are the most important welfare resource for rabbits at risk.
