Zebrafish are among the most widely used research animals globally, yet their social nature and specific environmental needs are often inadequately met in standard laboratory housing systems.
The use of zebrafish as research animals has grown enormously due to their genetic tractability and translucent embryos, but welfare standards have not always kept pace.
