Traditional rabbit hutches fail to meet the behavioral and physical needs of domestic rabbits, causing chronic welfare problems.
The traditional hutch model for rabbit keeping condemns millions of animals to lives of chronic frustration, inactivity and social isolation. Rabbits are complex, active social animals that need space, companionship and mental stimulation. A rabbit in a standard hutch cannot run, binky (expression of joy), stand tall or express the full range of its behavioral repertoire. The welfare problems this creates are widespread and largely invisible to owners.
