Birds in containers that are too low cannot adopt natural posture, causing pressure injuries during journeys that may last hours. Stacked containers create dangerous thermal gradients that cause heat stroke in lower tiers during summer. Inadequate ventilation compounds these problems. Container redesign to provide adequate headroom for erect posture, improved inter-container airflow, and thermal monitoring systems can substantially reduce transport welfare burden.
