Precision livestock farming represents one of the most promising technological developments for farm animal welfare. Early detection of lameness, disease, and stress enables intervention before conditions deteriorate — reducing the duration and severity of suffering for individual animals. At scale, PLF technologies make it feasible for farmers managing large herds to maintain individual-level welfare awareness that would be impossible through manual observation alone.
