Welfare Considerations

Most cases are preventable: dogs should never be left in cars on warm days, exercise should be avoided during peak heat, brachycephalic breeds require extra protection, and shade and fresh water must always be available. The combination of complete preventability and extremely rapid, painful progression makes heat stroke one of the most urgent welfare education priorities for dog owners.
