Wildlife rescue technology is advancing faster than regulatory and funding frameworks can accommodate. Individual animals benefit from better detection, faster response, more accurate triage, and improved rehabilitation outcomes. But technology adoption in wildlife rescue is patchy: well-funded urban wildlife organisations have access to innovations that rural and developing-country rescuers cannot afford. Democratising access to wildlife rescue technology — through open-source tools, donated equipment, and international knowledge-sharing — extends its welfare benefits more equitably. Investment in post-release monitoring is particularly valuable because it reveals whether rehabilitation is actually working.
