Wild bee welfare encompasses both individual suffering and population-level conservation. Individual bees show behavioral evidence of negative emotional states in response to pesticide exposure and food scarcity. Neonicotinoid-affected bees show impaired flight, reduced foraging efficiency, and abnormal social behavior in eusocial species. At the population level, colony collapse and species range contractions represent welfare at scale.
