Evidence-based cat enrichment replaces guesswork with science. We now know from controlled research which types of enrichment produce the greatest welfare benefit, how enrichment reduces stress and behavioral problems, and what individual cats prefer. The key finding is that cats value control: being able to choose when to interact, where to rest, when to play. Forcing enrichment on cats who are not in the mood produces no benefit.
