Welfare Considerations

Pangasius welfare has received relatively little attention despite the enormous scale of global production. The species has some physiological tolerance for poor water quality, but this does not mean it is insensitive to the conditions - it simply means it survives them. Improving pangasius welfare requires better water quality standards, lower stocking densities, and expanded certification coverage.
