Welfare Considerations

The conservation that geese naturally fatten for migration does not translate into ethical cover for industrial force-feeding — the scale, speed, and degree of hepatic lipidosis involved is qualitatively different. The growing list of national bans reflects a broad welfare consensus that foie gras production is ethically unjustifiable.
