Reptile welfare is substantially determined by the accuracy of environmental conditions provided by keepers. Unlike mammals who can somewhat buffer environmental inadequacies, reptiles are entirely dependent on their thermal and light environment for thermoregulation, digestion, immune function, and vitamin D synthesis.
