Aspergillosis risk is substantially reduced by appropriate ventilation and substrate management, demonstrating that environmental management is central to penguin welfare. Facilities that invest in species-appropriate thermoregulation, naturalistic water features, and colony management produce penguins with demonstrably better welfare outcomes.
