Welfare Considerations

Dogs with undiagnosed Addison's disease experience chronic intermittent nausea, weakness, and collapse events that are frightening and painful. The condition is frequently overlooked because symptoms wax and wane and routine blood tests may be nearly normal. Diagnosis requires a specific stimulation test. Once diagnosed and stabilised on appropriate medication, most dogs have an excellent quality of life. Regular veterinary monitoring adjusts medication dosages over time.
