Welfare Considerations

Cats experiencing acute vestibular episodes are disoriented, unable to walk normally, and may be very frightened by the sudden loss of balance. Keeping them confined to a small space to prevent falls, providing easy access to food and water, and minimising stress allows recovery in most cases. Veterinary assessment is still warranted to exclude treatable causes including ear infection and, less commonly, brain lesions. Supportive nursing care and anti-nausea medication if needed maintain welfare during recovery.
