Garden pesticides reduce the earthworm and invertebrate populations that frogs rely on for summer foraging, and slug pellets may kill frogs directly through secondary ingestion. Maintaining undisturbed hibernation sites through winter, limiting pesticide use, and providing a well-planted garden pond directly improves frog welfare outcomes at garden scale.
