Welfare Considerations

Poisoning campaigns cause agonizing deaths and kill non-target birds including raptors that eat poisoned pigeons. Contraceptive feed (OvoControl) humanely reduces populations without killing. Spiking and netting can trap and injure birds. Culling creates population vacuums quickly refilled by immigration. Welfare-focused approaches address the root causes of congregation rather than symptomatically removing birds.
