Feline panleukopenia is a highly contagious and often fatal viral disease in cats that can be almost entirely prevented through vaccination.
Panleukopenia causes severe suffering including intense gastrointestinal pain, dehydration, and immune collapse. Kittens in shelters and unvaccinated colony cats face the greatest risk. The disease spreads rapidly in crowded conditions. Vaccination campaigns in feral cat populations can dramatically reduce outbreak frequency and mortality.
