Welfare Considerations

Education at point of sale about the 20-plus year commitment and complex housing needs would substantially reduce welfare failures.

Provide a minimum 10-gallon tank for every inch of shell length as a starting point
Install adequate UV-B lighting and a powerful filtration system from the start
Consider adopting from turtle rescue organizations to avoid supporting poor-quality breeding operations
