Epizootic lymphangitis is a chronic fungal infection causing lymph node swelling and skin ulcers in horses, prevalent in parts of Africa and Asia.
Affected horses endure chronic painful ulcerating nodules along lymphatic vessels, often on legs and face. The disease is debilitating and progressive. In resource-limited settings, affected animals are frequently euthanized or abandoned, causing immense suffering. Prevention through equipment hygiene is key.
