The Javan rhinoceros is the rarest large mammal on Earth, with only around 70 individuals surviving in a single Indonesian national park.
With such a tiny population, each individual Javan rhino is critically important. Disease events, natural disasters, or even a single poaching incident represent catastrophic welfare and conservation losses. Habitat restoration by clearing invasive palms and strict anti-poaching protection are the lifelines for this species.
